MARKETING & PLANNING

Question 7: The correct answer is e) All of the above.

"The correct answer is e. No one can develop everything we need to become effective. All we need is a review of what we're doing. I don't even know anyone who can coordinate all these things." - Client G

If you feel lost because all the theoretical knowledge you've applied has not worked, then it is time to roll up our sleeves. Marketing requires review, research and simple, direct planning. Let us take a look at what you are doing to meet your goals.

There is a way to take guesswork out of the process. RMG reviews performance, researches methods, produces connections and analyzes the results. This is our talent and calling.

This should be second nature to marketing professionals. But sadly, most are taught exclusively in school and have little real world experience sourcing and engineering products, or promoting and selling them. Once you have been able to develop an invention from scratch, make it functional, advertise its benefits and secure a solid sales foundation on a small scale, then you will be able to talk about process.

Process is one of the most overused vagaries in existence. Everything is a process. Life is a process. Everything you do is a process. Let's stop breaking down the process, which is nothing more than a mental exercise, and get to work. We don't need to reinvent the business roadmap. Successful maps abound out there. All you have to do is decide who it is you want to sell, make something they will find valuable and get it in front of them. If you need to spend your days in endless meetings talking about how you go about selling, you never really get around to doing it.

Many companies are top heavy. There are executives who have no real justification for their positions. With massive bankruptcies we are starting to see the fallout of these people who have managed to create an aura of leadership when all they have really done is created a fiefdom within your company. It is one thing to say you are a leader, it is another to actually lead. This is like talking about marketing. We can discuss the fine points forever. The fact is none of it has value to you as a company unless the product sells.

So let's stop talking and sell product.
